Рецензируемая книга посвящена разработке теоретической концепции социотехнического воображаемого — коллективно поддерживаемого, институционально стабилизированного и публично воплощаемого видения желаемого будущего, вдохновленного общим пониманием социального порядка, достижений науки и технологий. В книге предлагается несколько эмпирических методов работы с этим понятием на материале разных стран и технологий: Интернет, технологии генной модификации, информационные технологии.
Рецензия обращает внимание на связь социального воображаемого с концепциями со-производства и гражданских эпистемологий Шейлы Джазанофф. В обзоре представлены основные характеристики социотехнического воображаемого, предложенные авторами сборника. Также рецензия затрагивает вопросы, которые могут лечь в основание потенциальных исследований вокруг социотехнического воображаемого: как и кем создаются воображаемые концепции, как эти концепции могут стать коллективными. Обзор завершается попыткой описать круг потенциальных бенефициаров книги: ими являются не только исследователи науки и технологий, но и исследователи государственной политики и администрирования.

The reviewed book aims at a more detailed elaboration of the theoretical concept of sociotechnical imaginary. It is a collectively supported, institutionally stabilized, and publicly executed vision of the desired future, inspired by a common understanding of the social order, science, and technology achievements. The book offers several empirical methods for working with this concept on the material of different countries and technologies: the Internet, gene modification technologies, and information technologies. The review draws attention to the connection of the social imaginary with earlier concepts of co-production and civil epistemologies of Sheila Jasanoff. The review presents the main characteristics of the sociotechnical imaginary, which were suggested by the authors of the
collection. It touches upon the topic of potential researches that can be formulated to update the concept of the sociotechnical imaginary: how and by whom imaginary concepts are created, how these concepts can become collective. The review concludes with an attempt to describe the range
of potential beneficiaries of the book. They are not only science and technology researchers, but also public policy researchers. For them, this book can be a starting point for reflection on most of the technologies that are embedded in our daily lives and exist in the field of political relations.
